| 4/28/04 1 We have the Junior Prom coming up on Saturday night. I need to praise my Prom Committee, because they have covered all bases, leaving me with little stress. The kids are really excited! Two students who did a TON of work deserve mention here. Thuy An and Loan stepped up and took a huge workload off the other members of the Committee. I'll praise everyone else in a future DN, because I want to be sure I leave nobody out. This was a group effort all the way, and it is looking like it will be an amazingly wonderful evening. 2 Our goal was to sell 50 bids; as of this morning, we have sold 60!! Everything seems to be in place. It is happening Saturday night, 8 p.m. at the San Jose Rep. It's looking very fun!! 3 So yesterday I'm sitting at my desk, when the district telephone guys came in. "We're moving your phone," they said. 4 Now my phone sits on my desk, exactly six inches from my hands. It just moved to the wall by the door, exactly 10 feet from my hands. The reasoning given was that in the event of an emergency, someone from outside could get to a phone more quickly. 5 I guess. But what if the emergency takes place at my desk? We lose that time-saving 10 feet. 6 I actually think I can go 10 feet in two seconds, and I'm not a little guy. 7 I LOVE stuff like that. I just looked at those guys as though what they were doing made perfect sense. Then I pictured 1500 teachers and probably more staff watching this all day and scratching their heads. 8 One teacher thought it was so they could bug our phones. Hey, even I'm not that paranoid! She thought those guys were CIA. 9 So I'm going to try to bring in another phone and see if it works. My own, so I can check it for bugs...or maybe to listen to the wee people. 10 Meanwhile, the world continues to turn. 11 Tired. This time of the year beats down even the youngest of teachers. We Old Brown Shoes are the walking wounded. 12 Talent Show tonight. I'm not sure of the time because I'm not running it, but I thought I'd throw out a plug. 13 See ya next time. |
